About the Event

In 1837, the first attempts were made to create an autonomous musical institution in Barcelona. These did not materialize until 1886, when the Banda Municipal de Barcelona was created with the aim of bringing the work of the great composers to the general public.

The activity of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona is strongly linked to the festive world and participates in the major events of the city it is present in the concerts of the Grec festival as well as in performances throughout Catalonia. Currently the band is based in the Auditori, where they have a regular season. Their concerts include premieres, thematic programmes and collaborations with conductors and soloists. The band is made up of about 50 wind and percussion musicians.
