BACH: Forms of Silence and Emptiness

About the Event

Award winner Nacho Duato's unique ballet which is based on the life and work of Johann Sebastian Bach will be presented at the Finnish National Opera.

The first part is titled ‘Multiplicity', reflecting on the emotions prompted by Bach's music in the choreographer. Based on the movement language of classical ballet, it is extremely complex, just as Bach's music. The second part, ‘Forms of Silence and Emptiness', is more mystical and addresses death, a frequent topic in Bach's works. This part is mostly based on music from Bach's unfinished masterpiece Die Kunst der Fuge.
