The English Concert
The English Concert is among the finest chamber orchestras in the world, with an outstanding reputation for inspiring... and stylish performances of Baroque and Classical music in the concert hall and on CD. In London they present an annual concert series at venues including Wigmore Hall, Barbican Hall and the South Bank Centre, appearing also at London festivals, notably the BBC Proms and Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music. In the UK they have a particularly close relationship with St George’s Bristol.
Internationally The English Concert performs on four continents and, since their foundation by Trevor Pinnock in 1973, have appeared on the world’s most famous stages, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Musikverein Vienna, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center New York, and the Grosse Festspielhaus Salzburg.
