Martin Levicky

Piano

Martin Levický (born in 1986) is a leading piano personality of the younger Czech generation. Music critics and musicians value him highly not only as a soloist but also as an excellent chamber player. He graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (under professors Toperczer and Krajný). During his studies he took part in a whole series of masterclasses with world‐famous pianists, and he has also been successful in many international competitions: he holds the prize for the best performance of an Arnold Schönberg work at the Prag‐Wien‐Budapest Music Festival. When he was only 12 he performed with the Prague Symphony Orchestra under Gaetano Delogu at a gala New Year’s concert in the Spanish Hall of Prague Castle. He has performed as soloist with many orchestras, among them the Slovak Philharmonic, the Virtuosi di Praga, and the Solisti di Praga. He has taken part in many festivals (the Beethovenfest in Bonn, the Musikerlebnis Mitteleuropa in Vienna, and musical celebrations in Cracow and Bratislava). As a chamber musician he has accompanied cellist Frans Helmerson and legendary violinist Josef Suk.
