Arabic Music Days: The Opening

About the Event

Singer and composer Moneim Adwan was born in the city of Rafah in the occupied Palestinian Gaza Strip, moved to France to study, and later obtained French citizenship. As a result of his journey, Adwan realized, identities and places had become mixed in his music, a music filled with questions of freedom and justice, either through the re‐introduction of folklore elements or emerging from his own work. At the same time that journey was a search for new artistic ground for his Oud and his own musical voice. For the opening concert of the Arabic Music Days, Adwan will bring a selection of his experiences to the stage, together with an ensemble of guest singers and musicians.
