Join Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia as they play Mahler's last completed symphony — the transcendent Ninth.

In many ways a compilation of the great influences of Mahler's career and life, the Ninth returns to the late‐Romantic orchestral traditions after the immensities of the Eight Symphony. The sounds of the traditional Austrian Ländler, parodies of Viennese fads, quotations from his own works, even the uneven heartbeat symptomatic of the illness that would lead to the composer's early death are to be heard, before the — almost unearthly — elegiac and profound final movement.
