Anna Prohaska & Lars Eidinger at Schauspielhaus Dresden

About the Event

Shakespeare‘s Ophelia is one of the most fascinating female figures created by the great playwright. The unhappy lover has inspired many composers for their creations, especially in the field of art song. The internationally celebrated soprano Anna Prohaska has dedicated a programme to this fascinating figure, drawing on songs from five centuries. By her side, Lars Eidinger, one of the most charismatic actors on the German film and theatre scene and most recently the celebrated Jedermann at the Salzburg Festival, recites texts that form a dialogue with the songs. A differentiated view of Ophelia and Hamlet, plumbing the depths of these timeless characters.
