Ambroise Thomas' Hamlet: Opéra Comique

About the Event

See Denmark's troubled prince from a new perspective in Ambroise Thomas' setting of Shakespeare's immortal play. Stéphane Degout sings the title role, and Sabine Devieilhe makes her debut in the role of Ophélie, under the expert baton of Louis Langrée.

Virtuosic and lyrical in equal measure, with a notable use of saxophones in the orchestra, Thomas' score sets Dumas' French adaptation of the original to dramatic effect. Acclaimed director Cyril Teste will undoubtedly capitalize on the score's many striking innovations in his production.
