Akademie für alte Musik Berlin: Watermusic

About the Event

The fascination of water is mirrored in four different works from the Baroque era featured in this "Watermusic" concert of the Akademie für alte Musik Berlin.

Marin Marais' fulminant piece "Tempête" from "Alcyone" opens this evening. The Suite from Michel‐Richard Delalande's Divertissement presents the allegorical part of water and portrays the musical aestheticism of Versailles during the time of Louis XIV. The different atmosphere of water is depicted in Telemann's humorous Overture‐Suite. The evening ends with Handel's "Water Music" which he composed for King George I.
