Huelgas Ensemble: Monteverdi in Prague

Relish the period expertise of the Belgian early music ensemble, and their founder, Paul van Nevel. As the guests of the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the acclaimed Huelgas Ensemble performs Monteverdi's Messa da Cappella in the ancient Church of St Simeon and St Jude.
As well as Monteverdi's Mass, which highlights the composer's key role in the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque, van Nevel leads his forces in motets by some of the most important composers of the Renaissance. Music by Philippe de Monte, Nicola Vincentino, and Giaches de Wert receives a rare, and illuminating, outing.
