O akci
Po rekordním úspěchu, kterého dosáhla na posledních festivalech, se opera Aida vrací na jeviště zdobená „křišťálem“.
Stefano Poda vypráví Verdiho příběh pomocí bezprecedentní souhry světla, průsvitných materiálů a barev, přičemž propojuje starověký Egypt s vysokou módou a současným uměním, a to s originálním, podmanivým a oslnivým výsledkem.
Starověký Egypt získává moderní kulisu v podobě arény z římské doby, zatímco Verdiho monumentální partitura, lyrická i dramatická, spěje ke svému tragickému konci.
„Aida“ je opera ve čtyřech dějstvích, kterou složil Giuseppe Verdi na libreto Antonia Ghislanzoniho.
1. dějství
Ramfis, egyptský velekněz, sděluje Radamèsovi, že válka s Etiopany se zdá být nevyhnutelná. Radamès doufá, že bude vybrán jako egyptský velitel, a sní jak o vítězství, tak o Aidě, etiopské otrokyni, do které je tajně zamilován. Aida, která Radamèsovu lásku opětuje, je dcerou etiopského krále Amonasra, což před svými egyptskými vězniteli tají.
Vstupuje Amneris, dcera faraóna. I ona miluje Radamèse, ale obává se, že by Aida mohla být její rivalkou. Vstupuje faraón s veleknězem a celým dvorem, aby oznámil, že Etiopané táhnou na Théby. Král vyhlašuje válku a jmenuje Radamèse velitelem armády.
Aida, která zůstala sama, je rozpolcená mezi láskou k otci, své zemi a Radamèsovi.
Radamès je jmenován vrchním velitelem. Egypťané se modlí za vítězství a ochranu svých válečníků.
2. jednání
Oslavuje se Radamèsovo vítězství, ale Amneris pochybuje o Radamèsově lásce a má podezření, že Aida je do něj zamilovaná. Když Aida vstoupí do komnaty, Amneris jí lže a tvrdí, že Radamès padl v bitvě. Šokovaná a zarmoucená Aida vyznává svou lásku k Radamèsovi. Amneris zuří a přísahá Aidě pomstu.
Radamès se vrací a vojska triumfálně vpochodují do města. Faraón prohlásí, že Radamès může mít cokoli si přeje. Na jeviště jsou v řetězech přivedeni etiopští zajatci, mezi nimi i král Amonasro. Amonasro oznamuje Egypťanům, že etiopský král padl v bitvě, a zajatci prosí egyptského krále o milost, ale Ramfis a egyptští kněží volají po smrti vězňů. Radamès, odvolávající se na královu slíbenou odměnu, prosí o milost pro vězně. Král Radamèsovi vyhoví a prohlásí, že se Radamès stane jeho nástupcem a ožení se s Amneris. Aida a Amonasro zůstanou jako rukojmí, aby se zajistilo, že se Etiopané nepomstí za svou porážku.
3. jednání
V předvečer svatby Amneris a Radamèse čeká Aida před chrámem bohyně Isis, aby se setkala s Radamèsem. Objeví se Amonasro a nařídí Aidě, aby zjistila polohu egyptské armády. Aida neochotně souhlasí.
Amonasro se schová za skálu a poslouchá Aidu a Radamèse. Radamès přísahá, že si Aidou vezme, a Aida ho přesvědčí, aby s ní uprchl. Radamès navrhne bezpečnou trasu a prozradí tak polohu své armády. Amonasro vyleze ze svého úkrytu a odhalí svou totožnost. Radamès si uvědomí, že nevědomky prozradil nepříteli zásadní vojenské tajemství.
Amneris a Ramfis opouštějí chrám a volají císařské stráže. Amonasro vytasí dýku, ale Radamès ho odzbrojí. Radamès nařídí Amonasrovi, aby uprchl s Aidou, a sám se vzdá císařské stráži, která ho zatkne jako zrádce.
4. jednání
Amneris přivolá stráž, aby jí přivedla Radamèse, a požádá ho, aby obvinění popřel, on však odmítne. Ramfis přečte obvinění, Radamès se odmítne hájit a je odsouzen k smrti. Amneris protestuje, že Radamès je nevinný, a prosí o milost, ale on je odsouzen k pohřbení zaživa.
Radamès byl uzavřen v temné hrobce. Uslyší zvuk a pak uvidí Aidou, která se v hrobce ukryla, aby mohla zemřít spolu s Radamèsem. Smíří se se svým strašným osudem a loučí se se zemí a jejími strastmi. Nad hrobkou pláče Amneris a modlí se k bohyni Isis. Milenci umírají v náruči jeden druhého, zatímco kněží mimo jeviště se modlí k bohu Fthovi.

Aréna ve Veroně
Arena di Verona je třetí největší dochovaný římský amfiteátr. Byla postavena kolem roku 30 n. l. a patří také k nejlépe zachovaným amfiteátrům té doby. Díky svým obrovským rozměrům (140 metrů na délku a 100 metrů na šířku) a kapacitě přes 30 000 diváků dominuje severní části náměstí Piazza Bra. Díky vynikající akustice a úžasné poloze je ideálním místem pro velkolepá operní představení. Tato památka byla v období renesance znovu zprovozněna jako divadlo a v roce 1913 zde byla inscenací opery „Aida“ od Giuseppe Verdiho zahájena tradice operních představení v Aréně di Verona.
Giuseppe Verdi
Giuseppe Verdi byl italský operní skladatel. Od mládí se věnoval hudebnímu vzdělání díky podpoře svého mecenáše a brzy ovládl italskou operní scénu. Ve svých třiceti letech se dokonce stal jedním z nejvlivnějších operních skladatelů na celé klasické scéně. Mezi jeho nejslavnější opery patří Il Trovatore, Rigoletto a La Traviata. Díky příjmům ze svých úspěšných oper se navíc dokázal etablovat jako pozemkový vlastník a soustředit se na svůj soukromý život. Brzy se však vrátil na scénu se svým novým populárním dílem Aida (1871) a třemi mistrovskými díly: Otello, Requiem a Falstaff.

This event was one of the best experiences of my 80 years. The setting , the music, the choreography and the performers far exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere could not be achieved anywhere else in my opinion. If I lived closer I would attend every performance.

While the principles were good, the choreography and set were awful. Large numbers of ‘extras’ dressed in tin foil walking around to no purpose, constantly distracting from the music and action, all with a pointless ‘hand of fate’ billowing in the background. This was spectacle without meaning. Pretentious without purpose.

E’ stata una esperienza unica, emozionante e coinvolgente. La scenografia molto particolare ma con riferimenti all’egitto, innovativa, che ci trasportava in una realtà diversa ma altrettanto emozionante. Es war ein außergewöhnliches und einzigartiges Erlebnis, dass wir nicht vergessen werden. Die Inszenierung war fantastisch, obwohl wir mehr auf die klassischen Darbietungen wert legen! Also Top Aufführung!! Was ich anmerken möchte, dass kurz vor 21:00 Uhr immer noch Publikum um her schwirrte und Plätze suchte. Das fand ich sehr störend. Die Bestuhlung mit vorher gekauften Kissen ist auszuhalten, obwohl alles äußerst eng ist! Etwas mehr Beinfreiheit wäre wünschenswert! Unverständlicherweise gibt es tatsächlich Menschen, die meinen mit Kindern im Alter von ca. 4‐8 Jahren in eine Oper wie Aida gehen zu müssen und dann mit den müden Kindern die Darbietung früher verlassen mussten und das, aufgrund des Metallaufbaus, sehr geräuschvoll und störend war!

The same comment as for Nabucco ! . It is a spectacle but not any more an opera . Anna Netrpko was anounced in the programm but we had an other soprano! Not so good . The tenor was the best ! The other singers not so good . The orchestra also not so good ! I was a little disappointed . Of course I invited my hole family and the youngers appricieted the “spectacle “ .

Die Umsetzung Aufführung war phantastisch allerdings sind die Sitzgelegenheiten (mit Ausnahme der sehr teuren Sitze im Parkett) eine Zumutung! Schmale, kurze und steil gewinkelte Metallsitze in sehr enger Anordnung zum Vordermann sind für eine Dauer von 3 Stunden einfach nicht zeitgemäß! jeder der größer als 1,50m ist bekommt nach kurzer Zeit Probleme dort zu sitzen. Das schmälert natürlich die Erfahrung des Events ungemein! Wenn man nach 1,5 Stunden nicht mehr weiß wie man sich verlagern soll um halbwegs bequem zu sitzen, nutzt die tolle Inszenierung auf der Bühne nichts. Das Sitzkissen für 6€ hilft da nur minimal.

I was really surprised with all the cenography and special effects this production brought to a classical, upgrading opera to another level. Althought the acoustics of the arena was defying to the singers and orchestra, the visual effects, coreography of the choir surprised me act by act, kepting me breathless. Congratulations on the beautiful performance!
