Latvian pianist Vestard Shimkus performs works by Schubert and Rachmaninoff at Palau de la Música Catalana, in Barcelona.

Critically acclaimed as a "phenomenon" and "splendid pianist", Shimkus Vestard stands out for his strong personality and technical brilliance. He began his musical training at the age of five, and soon became pupil of Dimitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martínez Mehner. His First Prize Award in the Maria Canals Competition launched him into a career of performances with major orchestras in concert halls around Europe, USA, the Middle East, China, and Japan.
