The Magic Flute: Palace Festival

O akci

This production of Mozart's "The Magic Flute" by the renowned Opera Chemnitz will be the opening highlight of the 10th Thurn und Taxis Palace Festival in Regensburg.

Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" (The Magic Flute) is the single most popular stage work by Mozart and one of the most frequently staged operas of all time. This is mainly due to its fairy‐tale folk story and at the same time profound libretto, the spectacular stage transformations and of course the wonderful music and the loving, deeply human figures: the dreamy prince Tamino with his enchanting portrait aria, the vengeful Queen of the Night with her coloratura arias, the benevolent Sarastro, the jolly bird‐catcher Papageno and the magical sounds of the "three boys", the snake, the Moor… Joyful and deeply moving moments are combined with solemn and dramatic scenes which make this piece a colourful and unsurpassable tableau. Director Dominik Wilgenbus — from the famous school of August Everding in Munich — has staged this work full of fantasy, atmosphere and with an emphasis on its fairy‐tale elements.

The Palace Festival lures over 30,000 visitors to Regensburg each summer and makes the palace a brilliant and vibrant venue for a variety of open air concerts.
