An extraordinary cast performs in Monique Wagemakers' production of "Rigoletto" at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Javier Camarena and Antonino Siragusa will debut in the role of the Duke of Mantua, with Carlos Álvarez, Àngel Òdena, and Leo Nucci among the other star singers.
Monique Wagemakers' interpretation of Verdi's opera is minimalistic, yet technically complex. The dramatic red costumes, with echoes of Renaissance Venice, reflect the fierce emotions of the title character.
