Music and Art of Rome from the Imperial Age to the Baroque

O akci

Embark on a fantastic journey through time, with Music and Art from the Imperial Age to the Baroque. A sublime combination of sounds and images offers insight into the heritage of Eternal City.

Immersed in the atmosphere and history of gladiators, emperors, popes, and princes, you will begin your journey with a guided tour* in one of the most extraordinary locations of Imperial Rome: the Stadium of Domitian, which is the first and only example of a masonry stadium ever built in ancient Rome. Alongside this stadium, hear performances of music of the Roman Empire, played on authentic instruments of the era: kythara, pandura, timpano, oblique tibia.

The journey through the centuries continues in a specially reserved hall, where you will enjoy art and music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras. The program traces the evolution of the stadium into one of the most famous squares in the world: Piazza Navona (Navona Square), a jewel of Reinassance and Baroque art.

The musical pieces from the Renaissance and Baroque periods will be played on original instruments as lute, traversa, Renaissance and Baroque guitars.

*Guided tour is available in English and Italian.
