Discover a genuine bel canto rarity. Donizetti's biblical tale of martyrdom and conflict, both personal and political, returns to the stage of the Liceu with Sondra Radvanovsky and Gregory Kunde in the pivotal roles of Paolina and Poliuto.
Marking a turning point in Donizetti's compositional style, Poliuto was beset by difficulties and censorship, but the music was eventually absorbed into Les Martyrs. Despite containing some of Donizetti's finest music, neither version has found a lasting place in the canon, so this is an opportunity not to be missed!
