Buxtehude’s Passion: Notre‐Dame de Paris

Henri Chalet conducts the adult choir of the Maîtrise Notre‐Dame de Paris and the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Paris for a performance of Dietrich Buxtehude's 'Membra Jesu Nostri'.

Buxtehude was a major figure of 17th century music, admired by Bach and Pachelbel. This cycle of cantatas is inspired by a series of sacred poems, and each is dedicated to a part of the suffering body of Jesus on the Cross.
