Britská tradice kompozice se pyšní bohatou a slavnou historií, která se vyvinula v mimořádnou hudební školu s takovými osobnostmi, jako byli Purcell, Gibbons a „adoptovaný“ Händel. Od edwardiánských vlivů talentovaného Elgara, jehož Enigma Variations z roku 1899 upevnily jeho renomé jako ceněného anglického skladatele, po Williama Waltona, známého svou brilantně zábavnou Façade Suite, a Ethel Smyth, jejíž Concerto pro jedinečné spojení lesního rohu a houslí představuje jedno z jejích pozdějších děl. Na této cestě přes Kanál nás doprovází Anna Rakitina, dirigentka a držitelka prestižní ceny European Culture Award 2025.

| Orchestr: | Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements. |
