Basingstoke
V hrabství Hampshire na jižním pobřeží země leží město Basingstoke. V posledních letech se počet obyvatel města rozrostl jako houba po dešti, když se londýnský příměstský pás s růstem hlavního města přesunul ven, a v šedesátých letech bylo centrum města zcela přestavěno a kdysi historické město se změnilo v tolik vysmívané betonové bludiště, o kterém se žertovalo, že je vhodné pouze pro bydlení účetních.
Toto komediální spojení sahá doslova o staletí zpět, až do dob Shakespeara, který se o Basingstoku zmínil v Jindřichu IV., části druhé, a mimořádní muzikáloví autoři Gilbert a Sullivan se o něm zmiňují také v jedné ze svých operet, město se dokonce objevuje ve Stopařově průvodci po Galaxii při jedné z hlášek Arthura Denta.
