Basilej
Basilej je třetím nejlidnatějším městem Švýcarska.V roce 2004 měla Basilej 731 000 obyvatel a její metropolitní oblast přesahující bezprostřední hranice kantonu a státu byla druhou největší městskou oblastí Švýcarska.
Basilej má pověst jednoho z nejvýznamnějších kulturních měst v Evropě. V roce 1997 se ucházela o titul "Evropské hlavní město kultury". V květnu 2004 byl zahájen pátý ročník festivalu pěveckých sborů EJCF: tato basilejská tradice byla zahájena v roce 1992. Hostitelem festivalu je místní Basilejský chlapecký sbor.
