Budafest Summer Music Festival: Puccini's La Boheme

The Budafest Summer Music Festival presents traditional Klezmer, Folk and Jazz Music, as well as famous operas, this year at the Hilton Dominican Court and the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest.

At the Hungarian State Opera, Puccini's famous opera "La Bohéme" will be performed as part of the festival, starring special guests such as Andrea Rost and Alex Vicens.



The central location of the Budafest Summer Music Festival is one of the city’s most significant 19th century monuments. The Hungarian State Opera House has been closely tied to the festival since the very beginning.  

 

 

The richly decorated opera house building was built, based on the plans of Miklós Ybl, between 1875 and 1884. It is the crowning achievement of the architect’s career, decorated with paintings and sculptures by Bertalan Szekely, Mór Than, and Karoly Lotz. It is regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful opera theaters. At the age of the Austro‐Hungarian monarchy, it was referred to as the Hungarian Royal Opera. In front of the building there are sculptures of Ferenc Erkel and Franz Liszt, both by Alajos Stróbl.
