About the venue
In 1998, the Salle Pleyel, the home of the Orchestre de Paris and Paris' only large concert hall, was bought by a private investor before closing, forcing the orchestra out. It started its current residence in the Théâtre Mogador in 2002. However, the Orchestre de Paris is now scheduled to return to an altered and improved Salle Pleyel in September 2006.The Ministry of Culture and Communication then authorized the lease of the Salle Pleyel to the Cité de la Musique, a public establishment under its supervision which was called upon to renovate this great concert hall, which now has all of the characteristics that are expected of an auditorium of quality and prestige.
