О событии

Vincenzo Bellini's final lyrical work continues the musical evolution of the young Italian composer who has been engaged since his previous seminal works, Les Capulets et les Montaigu, La Somnambule and Norma. The exceptional sense of melody and lyricism, which reached its peak in The Puritans, has become a true signature of Bellini and distinguishes him from Donizetti and Rossini in particular.

The undeniable romantic flavor of this opera owes much to the inspired libretto by the Scottish poet Walter Scott. The orchestral colour and the vocal writing reinforce this feeling.

The young Basque tenor Xabier Anduaga, already noticed at the Paris Opera in the recent Barber will be the Arturo facing the Elvira of the immense Jessica Pratt, one of the most brilliant belcantist of her generation. A sublime vocal festival, 'The Opera must make the audience cry, tremble and die', said its author. We will cry and tremble with emotion without any doubt that night.
