Schumannfest: Bicentenary of Robert Schumann

On Schumann's bicentenary, Düsseldorf turns into a veritable Schumann‐city. The entire work of the ingenious Romantic composer can be heard in the course of the year. The Schumannfest celebrates the anniversary with outstanding compositions like the „Rheinische Symphonie“, the violin and cello concertos, and the Oratorio „Das Paradies und die Peri“.

Frank Peter Zimmermann debuts with Schumann's violin sonatas; Christoph Eschenbach conducts the Schumann Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphonics; Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin are invited. Thomas Hampson, Janine Jansen, Paavo Järvi, Mario Venzago, Thomas Zehetmair — enjoy international stars of the music world paying homage to an extraordinary composer!
