Spitalfields Festival: Twisted Lounge with Xenakis & Visual Music

Spitalfields Summer Festival brings the audience out of the concert hall and into the art galleries of London to experience cross-disciplinary events and explore current trends in art and performance.

Inspired by Xenakis’ visuals-to-music software, Leon Michener performs his piano works with projected visuals triggered directly from the piano keys, in a real–time transcription of the music and also a solo improvisation. Rare Xenakis films will be screened, and Aleks Kolkowski creates a new performance from drawings contributed by audiences, translated into music using graphics-to-sound software and played back through antique gramophone horns, with improvised accompaniment on stroh violin and musical saw.

Enter the world of contemporary media art and music at the Spitalfields Summer Festival in London.
