Originally written for a private performance at the court of King Charles II in 1638, Venus and Adonis, through dance, soliloquy, dialogue and chorus, tells the tragic tale of ill-fated lovers in a wonderful mélange of French, Italian and English musical nuance.
La Nuova Musica give a concert performance complete with dancers to make their Spitalfields debut.
