Choreographers create and design the ballet steps and movements, choosing a pre-existing work of classical music in most cases. Stage designers create the striking settings that you see, creating foreign worlds or fantastical atmospheres. An orchestra is, in most cases, seated below the stage to perform the music for the dancers. Many ballet companies are associated with the famous opera houses in which they also perform.
