Music Summer: Tonkünstler Orchestra, Hope, Märkl
The Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich and the Tschechischer Philharmonischer Chor Brünn (Czech Philharmonic Choir Brünn) perform together with the violinist Daniel Hope under the baton of Jun Märkl at this year's Music Summer Grafenegg.
Two highly distinguished musicians meet the Tonkünstler at the Wolkenturm: Jun Märkl is Principal Conductor of the Orchestre National de Lyon and the MDR Radio Symphony Orchestra Leipzig, and Daniel Hope is one of the most sought-after violinists of our time. Together, they present two key works of the 20th century.
Dmitri Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto is one of the most sophisticated works in today’s concert repertoire for violin, and it mirrors a difficult chapter in the composer’s life. After the first performance of Maurice Ravel’s choreographic symphony «Daphnis et Chloé», the work quickly advanced to become one of the central works of ballet music.
