Music Summer: Tonkünstler Orchestra, Maisenberg, Jurowski

The Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich perform works of famous Russian composers, together with pianist Oleg Maisenberg, under the baton of Michail Jurowski.

On this evening, Michail Jurowski, Principal Guest Conductor of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, and Vienna-based pianist Oleg Maisenberg present Russian treasures. The programme begins with Sergei Rachmaninov’s monumental Second Piano Concerto.

For the second part of the evening, the Tonkünstler open the door to a musical Amber Room, presenting "Treasures of Russian Ballet", richly ornamented with works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Stravinsky and Michail Jurowski’s father, Vladimir Jurowski, whose works are rarely performed. The Prélude features the violinist Dalibor Karvay, winner of the 2002 Eurovision Young Musicians’ Contest.
