The Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, with pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja, will perform works by Dvorak, Schumann and Shostakovich, under the baton of Tugan Sokhiev, in this wonderful concert at the Auditori of Barcelona.

The highly successful collaboration between the two leading orchestras of Provence, the OBC and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, has once again brought this French orchestra, under the baton of internationally acclaimed Russian conductor Tugan Sokhiev, to the OBC season.
A great expert on his country of origin's repertoire, Sokhiev and his orchestra invite us to listen to Symphony no. 12 by Dmitri Shostakovich. Performed on very few occasions, Shostakovich's Twelfth, subtitled “The Year of 1917”, is dedicated to the memory of Lenin and focuses on events of the Russian Revolution, linking it thematically to its preceding symphony. Elisabeth Leonskaja, the veteran Russian pianist of indisputable qualities, returns to Barcelona with one of the most passionate concerts of the great repertoire, the concerto for piano and orchestra in A minor by Robert Schumann, premiered by the composer's wife Clara in 1846.
