Twenty-five years ago, the highly-acclaimed Greek artist, George Dalaras, started his first European Tour. Since then, the name of Dalaras has stood irrevocably for one of the most important musical ambassadors of Greece.

The singer, whose powerful and melancholic voice regularly sends his audiences into an emotional frenzy, will embark on an Encore Tour on the occasion of this anniversary in May 2010. He promises the purest spirit of Greece.

The motto of the tour was not necessarily to be expected. Although George Dalaras never denied or departed from his musical roots, he has stood in the last decades for the marriage of Greek musical tradition with elements from Rock, Latin, Oriental, Classic, and Folk music. He has passionately pursued his own musical development, which has resulted in collaborations with such varied musicians as Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman, Youssou'n'Dour, Cheb Mami, Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucia, Peter Gabriel, Dulce Pontes, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Israel and Herbert Groenemeyer. The question now arises: who will accompany him on his 2010 Tour?

The surprising answer is: an authentic ensemble of first-class musicians, which will return us to the Dalaras of former years. The non-conformist, who once dragged the history of Rembetiko out of the shadows of drab suburban towns, thus creating a vivid reflection of the realities of millions of lifes. The folk singer, whose international career started at the side of the great Mikis Theodorakis.
