Flamenco plays a central role in the Andalusian musical tradition. Dance, guitar, and singing come together in a genre that has won admiration worldwide. Since its inception two centuries ago, Flamenco has been influenced by a multitude of trends, but the core of the tradition has never lost its authenticity. Flamenco feeds on a tight emotional bond between the artists and the audience.



Flamenco is one of the greatest exponents of the cultural identity of Andalusia. It is a vehicle of emotional expression deeply rooted in tradition, a repository of social, economic and cultural factors. The artist's goal is to reach the audience through emotion. The performance begins with a plaintive cry, known as "quejío", to prepare the listener emotionally and to refine the vocal cords. The dance is highly expressive and depends entirely on the guitar, which determines rhythm and meter. The movement is full of feeling and improvisation, but it is also somewhat introverted and solitary.
 
The Flamenco Essence experience begins with a discussion of the origins of Flamenco and of the different styles. It continues with a brief practical lesson (learn to dance Flamenco in a short session). Finally, you will enjoy a Pure Flamenco Show, while sipping a glass of Sherry Wine.
 
The class will be offered in English and Spanish.
