Lo spettacolo
Rare classical musicBeethoven adapted his own concert for violin for piano in 1805. He probably wanted to perform it himself. This rarely played work stands in-beetween of the virtuosity in the tradition of France and Italia and the German/Austrian tradition of the classical symphonie. The "Jewish Boy" Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy felt home in the protestantic church music. The symphonie no. 2 "Lobgesang" ("Laud") is an interesting mix of sacred and profane themes. This symphonic cantata is a very specific adoption of Beethovens' nineth.
Enjoy the virtuose sounds of this orchestra and choir from Leipzig!
