The Fascination of the New

At the end of the 19th century Maeterlincks' "Pelleas et Melisande" was one of the most-played dramas. There are drama compositions by Schoenberg and Scott aswell. Fauré wrote his version 1898 for the Prince of Wales Theatre in London. Prokofieff composed his noticeably lyrical concert for violin 1915 while the Great War. The most famous work of Dvorak is his symphonie "From the New world" and shows the fascination for the new home of the Bohemian composer.
