Sur le spectacle
The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble presents their great show combining folklore with classical music at the Theatre Budai Vigado in Budapest. After the show, you are invited to a cruise trip with a delicious dinner of traditional Hungarian and European style food.

The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, regarded as one of the best in Hungary, was established in 1951. It presents authentic folk music and therefore preserves the unique Hungarian folk dances and traditional costumes of Hungarian-inhabited areas in their performances.
The ensemble consists of two orchestras and one dance ensemble - the Gipsy and the Folk Orchestra. In the last years, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble has revitalised the culture of the Hungarian people, and their rich and colourful repertoire entitled the ensemble to be regarded as one of the top touring groups in the world. In earlier times, Hungarian folk music has inspired Liszt, Bartók and Kodály, whose compositions will be also performed by the Folk Orchestra and the world-famous Gipsy Orchestra in their concerts.

On the cruise, you will enjoy the romantic atmosphere of Budapest and an excellent warm dinner buffet, surrounded by the illumination of the Danube metropolis. With romantic candle light you can celebrate a wonderful night in Budapest.

Hostesses will accompany you to the ship landing stage, after the concert. The journey lasts ca. 1,5 hour long, and the ships are equipped with air-conditioning.

Artistes

Folk Ensemble, Orchestre
The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble (Budai Vigadó), the Danube Folk Ensemble and Rajkó Folk Ensemble (in the Danube Palace) are three of the best Hungarian folk ensembles with the longest tradition. All three ensembles consist of around 30 artists.

The first ensemble was formed in 1951, and the second ensemble in 1957. Their choreographies are based on authentic dances. Some of them were collected in isolated villages and date back hundreds of years. Through the performed dances you can get a broad view of the music, dance and costume heritage of Hungary and the Hungarian inhabited areas.
