Sur le spectacle
Lothar Zagrozek and his orchestra assure high-class musical delectation and intellectual pleasure. It seems to be the antithese to Brahms' "Ein deutsches Requiem" (German Requiem): striking agit-prop-tunes go along with passages in twelve-tone technique and create "political intelligence by musical terms" (Eisler). The "Deutsche Sinfonie" (German Symphonie) is the opus magnum of Eisler - written in the bitter years of exile and without any opportunity of performing this symphonie to a foreign audience. In no other work you can hear the freedom and radikality of Eisler without any compromise. The influential German newspaper nominated this symphonie among the most important musical works of the 20th century along with Frank Zappa, Bartok or the Charles Mingus.
Before the concert you can hear a work-introduction at 7 p.m - Musikclub.
