West Side Story: Komische Oper Berlin

About the Event

The Komische Oper Berlin presents an English and German version of West Side Story, Leonard Bernstein's interpretation of Shakespeare’s drama Romeo and Juliet.

Driving rhythms and hauntingly beautiful songs make West Side Story one of the most moving works of musical theater in the 20th century. The subject of the piece is prejudice, fear, hatred – and hope that somewhere, somehow, some time, things could be different.

Based on an idea by Jerome Robbins. Book by Arthur Laurents. Song lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
