Schumann, Falla & Brahms: Liceu Symphonic Orchestra
About the Event
The Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphonic Orchestra performs Brahms' great first Symphony, a work that took the composer 14 years to complete, and which manifests his respect for the composer's forerunners – Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven – and an acute awareness of the weight of history.
The overture to an oratorio by Schumann inspired by Goethe's 'Faust', and an Impressionist score by Falla influenced by his friend Rusiñol's landscape paintings, make up the first part of this concert.
