Rossini's Semiramide: Concert performance by Lyon Opera

Rossini's final Italian opera receives a concert performance at the Théâtre de Champs-Élysées.

Evelyno Pidò conducts the Chorus and Orchestra of Lyon Opera, with a cast of international soloists, in the last opera Rossini wrote before moving to Paris and began working in French.

The opera will be performance in a concert version, with stage direction by Alan Woodridge.

Semiramide tells the story of the Babylonian Queen who, having murdered her husband, is choosing a successor to the throne. Her accomplice, Assur, expects to be chosen, but Semiramide is in love with the beautiful Arsace…
