Pulcinella & Mozart's Fortieth: Barcelona Symphony Orchestra

About the Event

Japanese conductor Masaaki Suzuki leads soprano Marta Almajano, tenor Andrew Kennedy, and bass‐baritone José Antonio López in a program featuring Stravinsky's complete Pulcinella ballet score and Mozart's Symphony No. 40.

The most catchy tune of all those composed by Mozart – the opening of the Symphony No. 40 – is only the prelude to a masterpiece full of surprises, the zenith of classical music.

This program at the Auditori de Barcelona also marks 95 years of the premiere of the ballet Pulcinella. With it, Stravinsky began his neoclassical period, a return to the smaller orchestral forces and to the spirit of composers such as Pergolesi, Bach and Mozart.
