María de Buenos Aires: Komische Oper Berlin

About the Event

Surrender to the tango and forget everything around you: the Komische Oper Berlin presents a concert version of Astor Piazzola's tango operita María de Buenos Aires.

The only opera written by Astor Piazzolla, the most important tango composer of the 20th century and founder of Tango Nuevo, is a devoted if not obsessive declaration of love for the tango and his hometown of Buenos Aires. Now María de Buenos Aires can be experienced with the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin conducted by the Norwegian bandoneon player Per Arne Glorvigen.

Opera‐tango in 16 pictures (1968). Libretto by Horacio Ferrer.
