Magdalena Kožená & Mitsuko Uchida: Song Recital in Budapest
About the Event
The star mezzo‐soprano Magdalena Kožená and the pianist Mitsuko Uchida perform works by Schumann, Debussy, Mahler, and Messiaen in this song recital in Budapest.
The concert begins with Schumann’s final song cycle, Gedichte der Königin Maria Stuart, which relates the story of this fated woman. The Debussy cycle paints a different female portrait from the poems of Ancient Greek courtesan Bilitis. Poèmes pour Mi, dedicated to Messiaen’s first wife, is the ‘story’ of a married woman from her husband’s perspective.
