Star‐tenor Rolando Villazón takes the title role in Offenbach's opera.

E. T. A. Hoffmann, or at least Offenbach's version of him, tells three tales of women in his life: the living doll, the virtuoso and the shameless courtesan, by way of explanation for how he thinks about life.

Four world‐class singers take the roles of Hoffmann and the women in the entertaining production by Richard Jones.
