The nymph Scylla refuses Glaucus, who asks the magician Circe to help him conquer this beauty. This trio of soloists in the grand French tradition is served by magnificent sentimental numbers as well as by terrifying scenes of fury and terror, in which a strong orchestra plays a major role.
