Layla and Majnun, or Mystical Love: Salle Pleyel

About the Event

Like all great legends, the story of Qays and Layla has been told in many ways and in many languages. This great musical and poetic retelling – a sort of oratorio from the composer Armand Amar (of film music fame) – promises to reveal the mysticism and universality inherent in this drama of desire, conquest, separation, solitude, and spirituality.

This example of world syncretism ranges from Mongolian chant, Indian classical song, and Pakistani qawali to Moroccan samaa, Western violins and cellos, Armenian doudouk, and Chinese and Japanese drumming. Experience human and divine love as a mystical journey with these 40 master musicians from around the globe.
