About the Event

Kristjan Järvi’s 2011 Chandos recording of Steve Reich’s Three Movements and Desert Music drew richly deserved praise – perhaps most notably from the composer himself.

Given his instinctive understanding of the American’s music, it is fitting that the new chief conductor of the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra should meet with Reich once again for a varied concert – ranging from Desert Music, which requires gigantic orchestral and choral forces, to the economical Clapping Music for two (one of whom will be Reich himself) – in the Salle Pleyel.
