Jun Märkl, Tonkünstler‐Orchester Niederösterreich

About the Event

The Tonkünstler‐Orchester Niederösterreich performs under the baton of Jun Märkl.

"I composed the symphonic poem 'Pelleas and Melisande' in 1902. It was inspired in its entirety by Maurice Maeterlinck’s wonderful play", Arnold Schönberg noted in programme notes published some time after he had completed the work. The drama about the eponymous couple’s star‐crossed love inspired several composers to set it to music, including Claude Debussy, whose through‐composed opera «Pelléas et Mélisande» constitutes a key work of Impressionism for the music stage.

Stella Doufexis, mezzo‐soprano
Nikolay Borchev, baritone
Nicholas Ofczarek, recitation
