Ensemble intercontemporain & Fitzsimon: "Le Grand Soir"

About the Event

The young Serbian composer Marko Nikodijevi represents a new generation of creators working with multiple modes of expression and various influences. His work mixes and synthesizes experiences, styles, and eras: from techno to the music of the Renaissance. For this program of "Turbulences", dark‐light, Nikodijevi will surprise us with an extremely varied, three‐part program hovering between light and darkness, between Apollonian clarity and Dionysian ecstasy.

Between the works -- including composers from Purcell, Schubert, Ligeti, and Stravinsky to Lachenmann, Adès, Ayres, and Schwartz -- he will transform himself into a DJ (one of his numerous activities) and remix works of the shockingly modern Carlo Gesualdo (1566‐1613) along with improvisations offered by soloists from the Ensemble intercontemporain. These spontaneous musical experiences will carry us away to amazing, crepuscular sonic landscapes.
