Dinner & Cruise: Symphony Orchestra, Cimbalom Show

About the Event

At the Cimbalom Show, the Danube Symphony Orchestra performs a wide range of works, from Bach to Gershwin, at the well‐known Danube Palace in Budapest!

The Danube Symphony Orchestra has a long concert tradition, dating back to 1961, and performs the most famous classical melodies combined with the typical Hungarian instrument the 'Cimbalom' (concert hammer dulcimer). This instrument is usually struck with special mallets called 'beaters'. Its heavy frame increases the dynamic power and its strings provide an extended range of sounds. A damper pedal allows more dynamic control. During the Austrian‐Hungarian monarchy, it was traditional that the noble families' children had to learn the 'Cimbalom' instead of the piano.

This is a unique opportunity to hear the most popular masterpieces of classical music interpreteted by cimbalom and the Danube Symphonic Orchestra — a sound that can be enjoyed only in Hungary!

On the cruise, you can enjoy the romantic atmosphere of Budapest and an excellent warm dinner buffet — prepared by world champion food sculptor Attila Tanács — surrounded by the illuminated Danube metropolis.    Celebrate a wonderful night by romantic candlelight in Budapest.
