Convivial Conversations: Chicago Chamber Musicians

About the Event

CCM's final Signature Series concert captures the apt description of chamber music — 'a musical conversation amongst friends.'

Beethoven's youthful Sextet, featuring pairs of clarinets, horns, and bassoons, is full of classical gestures, and abounds with charming, jesting dialogue among the performers. Rheinberger, in his own time, ranked in stature with Brahms and Wagner. His radiant Nonet brims with vibrant melodies that define chamber music's most intimate and passionate qualities. Dvorak's magnificent Piano Quintet, a chamber music masterpiece, brings the majesty of the grand piano into the conversation. From the opening passage, the ensemble converses in fluid, interwoven passages, laced with vitality.

A Britten Celebration
To honor the centenary of Benjamin Britten's birth, CCM is taking part in a yearlong, global 'Britten 100' tribute. This remarkable British composer was known for his extraordinary versitality and vast output. The 2013/2014 season includes programs that underscore his dazzling talents.
